Yeah it fucking sucks.
But like being that helpless child it gets better once you realize that a lot of parental figures are actually also just big children, and that, in being a quiet obserant child, you can notice the immovable walls and fuzzy leylines that make up the world, and learn how to walk between them or manipulate them to make a path to the things you need. It’s chess. It just feels shittier than chess because the movable pieces are salient to every part of the human experience.
